Decorative Fire Stones for Gas or Electric Fire Pits, Fireplaces,

and Fire Tables

What Are Fire Stones?

Fire stones are specially manufactured for Gas Fireplaces, Fire Pits, and Fire Tables. Unlike natural river rocks, fire stones are heat-resistant and safe for high-temperature environments. They come in a variety of colors, textures, and sizes to suit any style, from modern to rustic.

Similar to our fiber balls, our fire stones are more irregularly shaped and are designed to simulate natural stones or rocks you might find in various locations. A perfect addition to your gas or electric fireplace, fire table, or fire pit, and a great starting point for any fireplace makeover.

Why Choose Fire Stones Over Other Fire Media?

Fire Stones vs Lava Rock

Lava rock is lightweight and porous, but it lacks the refined look that many homeowners want. Fire stones offer a sleeker, more contemporary aesthetic while still providing excellent heat distribution. Fire Stones are also available in more colors than traditional lava rock, giving you more design options when considering a gas fireplace, fire table, or fire pit makeover.

Fire Stones vs Fire Glass

Fire glass is eye-catching and reflective, but it may not be ideal for every design style. Fire stones provide a more natural, understated look and, like fire glass, are easy to clean.

Fire Stones vs Traditional Gas Fireplace Embers

If you are going for a traditional fireplace look, fire stones make great accent pieces when placed over a traditional ember bed. When used in place of a traditional ember bed, fire stones are easier to clean and maintain.

How to Incorporate Fire Stones Into Any Gas Or Electric Fireplace or Fire Pit Design

Our Fire Stones are not only stunning, but they are extremely versatile and can be incorporated into almost any fireplace or fire pit design or makeover, depending on the design aesthetic you are going for.

Fire Stones as a Base Material

Fire Stones have traditionally been used as accent pieces over an ember or fire glass base layer in both fireplaces and fire pits. However, we have seen a growing trend of using fire stones as the base design layer.

Fire Stones are obviously larger than embers and most fire glass pieces, and create a different flame effect when placed over a gas burner. Flames in this configuration typically appear larger and have more of a campfire look, especially when combined with an Enhance a Fire twig set. We see this most often in fire pit designs.

We have also noticed a trend to use fire stones as a base layer in larger linear fireplaces where the flame effect creates a cleaner, more modern design aesthetic. We have even seen fire stones successfully used as a base layer in electric fireplaces. Our fire stones are also included in many of our mixed media kits, where you get everything you need to create a stunning fireplace or fire pit makeover in one box

Fire Stones As Accents Over A Fire Glass Base

This is one of the more traditional applications for fire stones and works well in both fireplaces and fire pits. With all the available colors, sizes, and shapes of fire glass, it makes a great base material for any fireplace or fire pit design. The addition of strategically placed contrasting fire stones adds both texture and interest to your fireplace or fire pit and allows you to create a stunning focal point for any room or outdoor space. We have seen this concept used to great effect in linear gas and electric fireplaces.

How to Install Fire Stones in Your Gas or Electric Fireplace or Fire Pit

Installing fire stones is simple and safe. Place them around your burner or across the tray in a single layer. Be sure not to block any ignition ports. Fire stones are compatible with natural gas and propane fire features and are often used to conceal burners or add a finishing touch to decorative logs or embers.

This is the most traditional application of fire stones. The fire stones are used in conjunction with our ember products to create a realistic-looking ember base in your gas fireplace. We do not normally recommend this configuration for outdoor fire pits or fire tables.
