Fire Stones have traditionally been used as accent pieces over an ember or fire glass base layer in both fireplaces and fire pits. However, we have seen a growing trend of using fire stones as the base design layer.

Fire Stones are obviously larger than embers and most fire glass pieces, and create a different flame effect when placed over a gas burner. Flames in this configuration typically appear larger and have more of a campfire look, especially when combined with an Enhance a Fire twig set. We see this most often in fire pit designs.

We have also noticed a trend to use fire stones as a base layer in larger linear fireplaces where the flame effect creates a cleaner, more modern design aesthetic. We have even seen fire stones successfully used as a base layer in electric fireplaces. We have seen this concept used to great effect in linear gas and electric fireplaces.

Installing fire stones is simple and safe. Place them around your burner or across the tray in a single layer. Be sure not to block any ignition ports. Fire stones are compatible with natural gas and propane fire features and are often used to conceal burners or add a finishing touch to decorative logs or embers.

This is the most traditional application of fire stones. The fire stones are used in conjunction with our ember products to create a realistic-looking ember base in your gas fireplace. We do not normally recommend this configuration for outdoor fire pits or fire tables.
